Etika Publikasi
Publication Ethics
Jurnal Pendidikan Mutiara is committed to upholding scholarly integrity in the publication of research and scholarly studies in early childhood education; physical education, health, and recreation; Indonesian language and literature education; and information technology education.
These publication ethics guidelines define the responsibilities of the publisher, journal managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. The publication process is guided by the principles of independence, fairness, and scholarly honesty. Independence requires decisions to be free from undue influence and conflicts of interest. Fairness entails impartial manuscript assessment and appropriate recognition of authorship based on contributions. Scholarly honesty requires accurate reporting and prohibits plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, and the falsification of data or research findings.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
- Ensure that all stages of the publication process, including manuscript handling, peer review, editing, typesetting, and publication, adhere to scholarly publishing standards.
- Safeguard the independence of editors and peer reviewers in assessing manuscripts based on scholarly merit and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.
- Protect the confidentiality of personal information concerning all parties involved in the publication process and respect copyright and intellectual property rights.
- Support the fair and responsible handling of suspected breaches of publication ethics, including the publication of corrections or the retraction of articles when necessary.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Determine whether manuscripts are suitable for publication by considering their relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, methodological soundness, contribution to education, and peer review findings.
- Evaluate all manuscripts fairly, without discrimination based on authors’ ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political views.
- Appoint reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript and avoid assignments that may give rise to conflicts of interest.
- Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and related information. Access must be restricted to individuals authorized to participate in manuscript assessment, publication, or the resolution of ethical concerns.
- Refrain from using data, ideas, or findings from unpublished manuscripts for personal benefit without the authors’ written consent.
- Address reported errors and suspected ethical breaches by seeking clarification from the parties concerned and determining appropriate action based on the available evidence.
- Ensure that editing improves clarity and presentation without making unilateral changes to the scholarly content.
Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers
- Assist editors in assessing the scholarly quality of manuscripts and provide well-founded recommendations within their areas of expertise.
- Provide objective, clear, and constructive reviews, supported by reasoned explanations for each assessment or recommendation.
- Assess the appropriateness of the methods, the accuracy of the analysis, the strength of the arguments, and the extent to which the findings support the conclusions.
- Examine the accuracy and appropriateness of citations and references, and notify editors of any indications of plagiarism, duplicate publication, data irregularities, or other ethical concerns.
- Maintain manuscript confidentiality and refrain from using information obtained during peer review for their own benefit or that of others.
- Inform editors if they have a conflict of interest, lack the expertise required to assess a manuscript, or cannot complete the review within the specified timeframe.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Submit original manuscripts that fall within the journal’s scope and are based on research or scholarly work that can be substantiated.
- Report methods, data, results, and interpretations accurately and honestly, without fabricating data, falsifying findings, committing plagiarism, or withholding information that could affect the interpretation of the research.
- Properly acknowledge the sources of ideas, quotations, data, instruments, images, and other materials drawn from the work of others, and obtain permission for their use where required.
- Assign authorship based on substantive scholarly contributions. All authors must be aware of and approve the submitted manuscript and the order in which their names appear.
- Refrain from submitting the same manuscript to another journal while it is under consideration by Jurnal Pendidikan Mutiara or presenting previously published work as a new contribution.
- Protect the rights, privacy, safety, and well-being of research participants. Research involving young children, students, teachers, athletes, or other participants must comply with applicable research ethics requirements, including informed consent from participants, parental or guardian permission for children, and ethics approval where required.
- Protect the confidentiality of personal data, including identifying information, photographs, recordings, assessment results, and activity data from digital learning platforms. Information that could identify participants must only be disclosed with appropriate consent.
- Disclose funding sources and any relationships that could give rise to conflicts of interest in the conduct of the research or the preparation of the manuscript.
- Respond clearly and promptly to questions from editors and peer reviewers and submit revisions in a timely manner. Authors should retain supporting data and provide clarification upon request while preserving participant confidentiality.
- Cooperate with language editing and typesetting, provided that no changes are made to the substantive content or central ideas without the authors’ approval.
- Notify the editors promptly upon discovering a significant error in a published article and cooperate in issuing a correction or retracting the article when necessary.
